Babies with a 38-degree fever must go to the doctor immediately

If babies have fever of 38 degrees Celsius or more, this should definitely be cause for a doctor's visit with their children, so BVKJ continues.
Immune system of babies can ward off infections only bad
The most common cause of fever in infants less than three months old is an infection. Because "at this age, the immune system is not yet properly developed and can hardly ward off infections," there is certainly a significant health risk, explained the spokeswoman of the Professional Association of Children and Adolescents in Thuringia. Monika Niehaus. The pediatrician from Weimar advises therefore to an early doctor's visit. Here, according to Niehaus: "The younger the baby is, the more likely a visit to a doctor makes sense." Parents should "better once too much than once too late" go to the doctor.
Fever an indication of possible infections
The measurement of body temperature should be done according to the professional association of paediatricians in babies best rectally (in the Po). The experts also recommend parents to measure the body temperature of the child in their healthy child, so that the height of the fever can be better assessed in an emergency. According to the experts, normal body temperatures of children are between 36.5 degrees Celsius and 37.5 degrees Celsius. Although temperature increases are a relatively reliable indicator of childhood disease, "parents should not rely on the fever as a warning signal," reports the BVKJ. Because not always the health problems of the little ones are accompanied by an increased body temperature. A pediatrician should therefore, according to Dr. med. Niehaus can also be visited when the baby is restless, sluggish and listless, unable to feed, breathing heavily, developing a rash or vomiting with or without diarrhea.
Overheating as the cause of the fever
According to the BVKJ, the increased body temperature can be caused not only by illnesses but also by overheating of the child. If, for example, babies are dressed too warm, their organism will dry out (dehydration) and be unable to regulate the temperature to the required extent, which also manifests itself as a fever. (Fp)
