According to a survey, almost every second man drinks beer or wine after work. More than one woman in five leaves the workday with alcohol. If employees already think about their after-work beer while working, this could be an indication of an impending addiction.
More men than women drink after-work beer
According to a population-representative survey by the market research institute GfK, almost half (49.6 percent) of men in Germany regularly approve a beer or a glass of wine after work. The percentage of women is much lower: about one in five (22.6 percent) of them end the working day with an alcoholic drink. For the survey were commissioned by the magazine „pharmacy magazine“ 1986 people interviewed as various media report.
Regular alcohol consumption carries the danger of addiction
If, however, the after-work beer becomes routine for employees, or they already work on their later work „alcoholic reward“ This could be an indication that alcohol consumption is extremely important in life and that dependence is on the way. If a small glass of wine is drunk in the evening three to four times a week, that would still be fine, as Anette Wahl-Wachendorf from the Association of Plant and Factory Physicians said to the news agency dpa at the end of last year.
Risks due to chronic alcohol consumption
Europe is the region with the highest alcohol consumption worldwide. The Federal Center for Health Education (BzgA) estimates that 9.5 million people in Germany between 18 and 65 years have alcohol problems, so drink alcohol in harmful amounts. Around 1.3 million of them are therefore considered alcohol dependent. Persistent alcohol use increases the risk of many diseases, such as cirrhosis, fatty liver, brain damage, heart muscle and cancers such as liver cancer or esophageal cancer. (Ad)
