17/11/2013
For two young people from the Franconian town of Bad Neustadt smoking ended a herbal mixture on Friday in the hospital. They had ordered the mix on the Internet and would have almost collapsed after consumption.
Herbal mixture ordered on the Internet
The smoking of a herbal mixture was on Friday evening, two young people in the Franconian Bad Neustadt to the doom. The two young people, 17 and 18 years old, had ordered apparently on the Internet a suitcase with a herbal mixture and the associated smoking device. After consuming the mix on Friday, they suddenly felt very bad.
From the ambulance service to the hospital
One of the two teenagers was still able to inform his father by mobile phone. Since there was a suspicion that the two could possibly be unconscious, the fire department also moved on. But the two could open the door independently and were treated by an ambulance on the spot. Subsequently, they were hospitalized by the ambulance service as emergencies.
Especially dangerous for first time consumers
The local police department takes the case as an opportunity to expressly warn against consuming the various herbal compounds on the Internet. Especially for first-time consumers, the often unpredictable health consequences can be extremely dangerous. The police are now investigating Bad Neustadt against the two juveniles on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Act.
Problem of German drug policy
However, many of the herbal mixtures available both on the Internet or in specialized stores are not covered by the Narcotics Act. Therefore, this case also points to a problem in German drug policy. Because the growing spread of questionable herbal mixtures is directly related to the still upheld ban on cannabis. However, substances are marketed that have a much more devastating effect on the health of consumers, just to protect the legal appearance. Enlightenment work in this direction hardly exists. One of the few exceptions is the website („Drugcom.de“) of the Federal Center for Health Education (BzgA), which informs about the effects and risks of the new drugs. (Ad)
