Fragrances in perfumes, detergents and cosmetics can cause allergies.

Fragrances can be found in every conceivable product of our everyday life. Fragrances are intended to enhance the product and give a feeling of freshness and fragrant fragrance. But the fragrances are partly chemically produced and can cause acute allergies.

In addition to natural essences and oils, manufacturers also use synthetic fragrances. Both types of fragrances can lead to allergies and thus cause health problems. Fragrances can be found in many products. So these substances are not only contained in perfumes, but also in detergents, fabric softeners, cosmetics such as creams, but also in sunscreen and detergents. Many people are allergic to mainly chemically produced fragrances. This can lead to painful skin reactions. So warns Sonja Lämmel from the German Allergy and Asthma Association (DAAB): "The incompatibility of fragrances manifests itself as a contact allergy in the form of an allergic contact dermatitis".

Around 20 percent of people in Germany suffer from allergy to certain fragrances. „Itching skin, nasal vesicles and dandruff are symptoms of contact allergy, "reports Dr. Arne Menzdorf of the allergies portal" www.myAllergo.de. "Chronic eczema may also be present in areas of the skin in contact with the fragrance The affected then hardly a way to the dermatologist spared.

But before that happens, sufferers should prefer to resort to fragrance-free products. "It's important to avoid the trigger," Dr. Arne Menzdorf. However, it is often difficult for consumers to identify which products contain no fragrance. "This can be difficult despite the obligation to declare cosmetics," says Sonja Lämmel. On the packaging can usually only the collective terms „Perfume", „Fragrance ", „Aroma "or „Flavor "The exact composition and how high the proportion of synthetic substances, consumers can hardly verprüfen.Just 26 fragrances must be officially declared .So affected should therefore increasingly use so-called natural cosmetics, which are especially fragrance-free. Drugstores and pharmacies can find a variety of such fragrance-free products.Usually, consumers should resort to such products, since allergies can also arise in retrospect, although previously there were no complaints.
