Dieting without starving This method of scientists should help you lose weight
People who want to reduce their weight often use a variety of methods. For a while, some abstain from carbohydrates, others from fat and some try to eat almost nothing. There are scientists who think that such diets bring almost nothing. Researchers from Australia see it differently: they seem to have found the key to successful weight loss.
Low carb or low fat?
The dispute over whether less fat or fewer carbohydrates is suitable for losing weight fast has been going on for years. In scientific studies, it is repeatedly shown that low-carb performs better than low-fat. If such a diet is too extreme, it can be dangerous. Because the renunciation of carbohydrates can even affect life expectancy. A new method of weight loss, developed by Australian researchers, is also based on minimizing carbohydrate consumption.
Improve health and well-being
Scientists from the Government's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Australia have developed a new nutritional plan, which they say is a good option for people who want to regulate their weight or treat their diabetes.
The experts published their plan in a book that can be ordered through the organization's website.
"Our researchers have established a clear link between a low-carb diet and diabetes management," it says. He goes on to say: "Scientists believe that when people consume more healthy fats and lean protein, while at the same time reducing carbohydrate intake, they can significantly improve their health and well-being."
Lots of protein and unsaturated fats
One of the authors, Professor Grant Brinkworth, told the Daily Mail that the new diet is based on low carbohydrates and a lot of proteins and unsaturated fats like olives and avocados.
In order to reach their results, the study participants were divided into two groups: Some were placed on a low-fat diet high in carbohydrates. The others tried the new program with low carbs and lots of fat.
All subjects were overweight or obese. In addition, all type 2 diabetes had been diagnosed.
Enjoyment foods as part of the diet
The study showed that participants in both groups lost significantly and almost as much weight. But the low-carb group had a significant health benefit: the subjects who were feeding on the new program were able to reduce their consumption of diabetes medicines by 40 percent.
According to Professor Brinkworth, it was easier for them to follow the diet because carbohydrates, snacks and sweets were also allowed.
"We've also included a whole section on gourmet food in the book. We want to make sure we have a diet that's flexible enough for people to stick to, "said the expert.
The desserts listed in the book are relatively healthy, as scientists tried to avoid unnecessary sugar. If you like snacks, you can grab zucchini and avocado chips among other things. (Ad)
