The Berufsgenossenschaft der Bauwirtschaft (BG Bau) has pointed out that every year thousands of people fall ill because of epoxy resins and the professional associations register around 250 new cases each year.
Inhaling the vapors can damage the nervous system
If no protective clothing is worn, skin burns may occur within a few days. Not only the skin, but also the eyes are endangered. In addition, bad, chronic skin allergies or severe skin problems with wounds, inflammation and itching can be the result. As BG Bau writes on its website, inhaling solvent vapors can also cause headaches and damage other parts of the body, such as the nervous system.
Always wear protective clothing
To protect the skin, always wear gloves when handling epoxy resins. Recommended here are special chemical protective gloves, rather unsuitable are those made of fluororubber. In addition, construction workers should always wear protective suits, such as overalls or aprons, as well as goggles.
