Diabetes sports and nutrition beneficial
Exercise and healthy diet beneficial in diabetes disorders.
(09.08.2010) Diabetes is widespread in Germany, but although people are sometimes severely limited in their daily routine, a large part of them can even benefit from the disease. This is the conclusion of a representative survey commissioned by the Diabetes Counselor, the results of which are now available. The study clarifies that most patients are referred to by their family doctor or diabetologist „comprehensive and good“ Just under three quarters of them (74 percent) said they had changed their lifestyle in a positive way following the diagnosis. Thus, 75 percent of respondents said they have been moving more and eating healthier lives since the diagnosis.
The right approach in naturopathy has been emphasized for years that diabetes is not a fixed fate, but diverse own influence options exist. Simple measures such as more exercise and weight reduction are especially in diabetes mellitus type 2 („adult-onset diabetes“) well suited to counteract the disease and have great influence on the further course of the disease. Type 2 diabetes, as opposed to congenital type 1 diabetes mellitus, develops over the years as the pancreatic insulin-producing cells are destroyed by an unknown autoimmune process.
Since the type II diabetes occurs only in the course of life, it often takes a while until the right diagnosis is made. Symptoms of a disease can be: tiredness, general weakness, weight gain, frequent hunger and depressive moods. As risk factors for type 2 diabetes z. Obesity, smoking, lack of exercise and high blood pressure. According to this, affected persons can achieve an improvement of the symptoms by changing their lifestyle especially at the beginning of the illness.
In many cases, even a drug treatment can be avoided ... This is also confirmed by a study conducted by the DAK in cooperation with the University of Heidelberg and which concludes that „Regular physical activity sustainably lowers the blood sugar level and thus protects against diabetic long-term consequences“, so Dr. Gerhard Huber from the Institute for Sports and Sports Science of the University of Heidelberg. „Diabetes mellitus type 2 is one of the few diseases that can literally run away“stressed Huber. In addition, a change in diet can also contribute to positively influence the course of the disease. Self-initiative is therefore required and can counteract the symptoms of diabetes type 2 even after illness. (Fp)
