The hormonal Viagra Kisspetin is said to help with discomfort
Study: A hormone can restore men to a fulfilling sex life
Especially in the advancing age, some men have problems with their sexual desire and their potency. For sufferers, there now seems to be a new way to fix this problem. Researchers found that a particular hormone can increase sexual desire in those affected and thus leads back to a fulfilling sex life.
Researchers at the renowned Imperial College London found in an investigation that injection of the hormone kisspeptin leads to increased sexual desire in men. The physicians published the results of their study in the journal "Journal of Clinical Investigation".

Hormone increases activity in certain brain regions
In old age sexual desire disappears in some men. The injection of a particular hormone seems to reverse this process. A study of 29 young heterosexual men concluded that ingestion leads to increased activity in that part of the brain that is normally activated by romance or arousal, say the experts.
After hormone injection, the brain reacts more to erotic influences
The subjects had to look at two sets of images during the study. One set of pictures was sexually erotic, the other set did not show any sexually arousing pictures of couples. Volunteers were able to observe increased activity in the part of the brain with the help of a so-called MRI (Magnetic Resonance Tomography) device, which is activated by excitement when the subjects observe the erotic photos. This effect did not occur when the non-erotic control images were considered, the scientists explain.
Results could improve the sexual life of many couples
Ultimately, the purpose of our research was to determine if the hormone kisspeptin is an effective treatment for so-called psychosexual disorders, said lead author Professor Waljit Dhillo of the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London. We are very pleased with the results of our research and believe that in future they could help countless couples with their problem, adds the physician.
The brain plays an important role in sexual desire
Most studies of infertility or potency problems focus primarily on the underlying biological factors, say the authors of the study. Of course, physical influences are important in reproduction and sexual desire, but the brain and various emotional processes also play an important role, explains Professor Dhillo. And exactly these processes are not yet fully understood and would be understood only partially.
Further research is needed
The hormone is naturally present in all humans. For this reason, Kisspeptin is also easy and safe to use, explain the doctors. The hormone is an interesting option for treating sexual disorders and may even be helpful in treating depression, says co-author Dr. Alexander Comninos of Imperial College London. However, further studies would be needed to further examine these results.

"Our study has revealed the following results: Kisspetin increases sexual and romantic brain activity. In addition, the hormone causes the loss of negative moods, "explains Dr. med. Comninos.
