Chinese medicine for back pain
Chinese medicine relieves back pain sustainably

Hardly any other disease manifests itself as diverse and tormenting as the folk suffering backache. Those affected report pulling, stabbing, or piercing pain in the neck, mid-back, or pelvic region. In Germany alone, today's backbone is becoming increasingly painful to 80 percent of the population, mainly due to a lack of exercise and one-sided burdens. The cause is blockage, tension, inflammatory processes or wear. Although conservative therapies such as heat or red light treatments, physiotherapeutic measures or medications generally relieve the symptoms at times, they usually fall short. Even back surgeries often do not bring lasting pain relief. In contrast, Chinese medicine not only seeks the trigger in functional or biomechanical disorders, but often finds a starting point for sustainable therapy far away from the aching body region.
Cause often in a completely different place to identify and treat
„Misalignments and wear of bones and joints can not be explained adequately by purely mechanical models“, explains Dr. Christian Schmincke, TCM expert and head of the clinic at the Steigerwald. „They often go back to faulty states of tension of the muscles, which in turn usually reflects a mental state.“ Almost everyone knows back pain in case of mental overload or neck tension in performance pressure. In addition to this psychomotor aspect, Chinese medicine also includes the muscle metabolism and the connective tissue or general internal processes of the body. According to this, circulatory disorders or possible slagging are further important aspects for the development of painful back problems. „Only with proper supply and disposal of muscles and connective tissue, the tissue can maintain its strength, elasticity and adaptability“, emphasizes Schmincke.
At this point, the Chinese drug therapy is used. By treating the abdomen - not the back, of course - with individually formulated formulations of herbal ingredients, important excretion processes are set in motion. The herbal smells, which have been boiled as decoctions, help to release causal blockages on the front and back and to restore the balance of energy in the body. In addition, biological treatment methods such as cupping or the application of leeches also work. Acupuncture and active body therapies such as Tuina massage and Qi Gong also help to release deadlocked tension patterns and relieve pain. „About 70 percent of sufferers with chronic back problems feel that symptoms have persisted for more than two years after receiving treatment according to Chinese guidelines and need significantly less medication“, reports Schmincke. Anyone who wants to make a contribution to alleviating or even preventing back problems, the expert recommends metabolic-relieving measures. So: especially in the evening little food, little alcohol, no nicotine, little coffee and less meat, sausage and protein-rich dairy products. Often already the short-term renunciation helps to achieve a noticeable effect. (Pm)
