Blood test is said to predict menopause

A blood test should predict menopause of menopause.

(29.06.2010) Iranian scientists claim to be able to predict the menopause of women with a simple blood test. Based on a study, the new method has already been tested on 266 subjects. The study participants had an average age of 20 to 49 years. The deviations, the researchers say, have mostly been only 4 months. This means that the scientists were able to determine in advance in which year of life the woman's hormonal change (menopause) begins. For other women, however, a deviation of five years is said to have been established.

The Iranian scientists had stated that the concentration of the anti-Müller hormone (AMH) can already be determined several years before the onset of menopause. In a woman who already had 4.1 nanograms of AMH hormone per milliliter of blood at the age of 20, an early onset age of the so-called menopause can be recognized. The researchers used this example to indicate that the woman comes into menopause at age 52. The researchers presented the results at the congress of the "European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology" in Rome.

What happens during menopause??
During the menopause the woman changes from the stage of sexual maturity to the so-called senium. For most women, this phase occurs between the ages of 45 and 70 years. Previously, the female body forms fewer and fewer estrogen hormones until it eventually enters the menopause. In the run-up, menstrual bleeding becomes rarer and the intensity of the bleeding decreases. About one third of women have no physical symptoms, while another third complain of mild pain or mental illness. The last third complains of severe pain or mental illness. Typical symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, excessive sweating, headaches, depression and dizziness. During the senium phase, it often causes diseases such as hypertension and osteoporosis.
