Being overweight endangers the economy
Obesity in children endangers the German economy: Up to 15 percent of children already suffer from obesity.
According to the chief physician of the Püttlinger Clinic for Naturopathy and Preventive Medicine, Prof. Dr. med. med. Michael Stimpel, threatens the ever-growing problem of obesity in children, the German economy. The ever higher expenditure in the social funds threaten the business location Germany, so the physician.
According to an OECD study, around half of all people in the OECD member states are overweight. In Germany, about 60 percent of men and 45 percent of women are affected, with 16 percent of people already suffering from obesity (obesity). Moreover, there is a significant increase nationwide, especially among children. Up to 15 percent of children are already obese in the Member States. If the trend continues, two out of every three citizens will be overweight in ten years.
Obesity greatly increases the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure, the chief physician warned. Such serious diseases can inevitably lead to the disability of those affected. In the opinion of the doctor, the policy should urgently respond and educate the citizens more sustainable. Because those affected are getting younger and younger. (sb, 24.10.2010)
