Contribution increases of the private health insurance companies
Private health insurance premiums will rise excessively in 2010.
(23.05.2010) While additional contributions and possible increases in contributions make statutory health insured uncertain, private insureds now also have to expect massive premium increases. Already last year, there were reports from consumer advocates that the contributions of private health insurance (PHI) in 2010 will be increased by almost 25 percent. According to the analysis company Morgen & Morgen, people insured with PKV have to expect premium increases of more than 6 percent this year. Within the last 10 years, tariffs have been raised by more than 3500 euros.
This time, the private health insurance association did not want to comment on the results of "Morgen & Morgen". It would be too difficult to check methodically, on average, the PKV contribution increases, said a federation spokesman. The PKV Association only knows that the costs for all services increased by 7 percent between 2008 and 2009. From this, however, one can not measure any contribution increases to the same extent.
According to analysis results of morning & morning there are large differences in the contribution increases of the private health insurance companies. The premiums were each evaluated according to the type of tariff and returned as a total number. For example, the six different tariffs of the German Ring have risen on average by 3.4 percent in the last ten years. In the case of Pax family welfare, the contributions of the past ten years have risen by an average of 6.7 percent and those of Mannheim by 6.9 percent (including all tariffs)..
Privately insured can hardly calculate the contributions of private health insurances. Because the price increases are often in detail so high that many insured people come into serious financial hardship. Thus, the annual contributions for men have increased on average by 1985 euros. For an insurer, men had to pay an average of up to 3522 euros in a ten-year comparison more. No rarity is the above-average increase in premiums for older people. For example, some retirees had to accept 5 to 10 percent premium increases in the past five years. (Sb)
