If consumers only want to buy poultry from animal welfare, the label should be followed carefully. In times of mass animal husbandry, it is often difficult to distinguish exactly whether the purchased poultry was actually reared appropriate to the species.

Who buys fried chicken in the trade, should pay attention to special names, in order to eat later really good and art-appropriate grown meat. This is pointed out by the consumer center in Thuringia in a recent statement. Labels on the label are often confusing and often deceive the consumer when buying poultry. Therefore, consumer advocates explain individual label designations to provide clarity. „It is best to choose regional producers“, so as not to buy meat from the poultry fattening. caging
The animals never come to the light of day and have to vegetate next to each other in the narrow space in the stable. In agriculture, this type of rearing is trivializing „Intensive animal husbandry“ called. The main idea is the fastest possible, cost-effective and mass rearing of poultry in large farms. Antibiotic drugs and so-called performance enhancers are used. The rearing is by no means species-appropriate. The animals live little more than a few months.

Extensive floor attitude
Extensive ground husbandry means that the poultry have a little more space in the rearing than the animals in the intensive land keeping. The consumer center of Thuringia explicitly points out that even here the animals spend their entire life exclusively in the stable and do not see the light of day.

Free range
At the name „Free range“ the same living conditions are present as in the Extensive Bodenhaltung. However, the animals can have half of their short lifetime during the day, the permanent possibility to move in the fresh air on predominantly green areas. Only at night, the animals are kept back in the barn.

Peasant free range
In the free-range farming, the animals can always move on green areas and enjoy nature in confined enclosures, according to the experts of the consumer center. The animals must belong to a poultry breed, which is very slow and slow „Naturally“ grows. The feed must consist of 70 percent cereal.

Farm free-range - unlimited freewheeling
In the „Farm free-range - unlimited freewheeling“ the species-appropriate attitude is almost completely fulfilled. The birds can move outside all day long. There are no limits and the animals can move as many as they want. If the farm is eco-labeled, animals should not be treated with antibiotics and performance enhancers. Medicines should not be given to prevent any disease that may occur. The feed must come from organic farming. These products additionally carry the organic label.
