Big teens: About one in ten first graders is overweight
Worldwide, there are more and more children and adolescents who are too fat. Even Germany is not immune to the problem. Many first-grade students are overweight or even obese. In Rhineland-Palatinate even every tenth first grader is overweight.

Every tenth ABC shooter is too fat
Even toddlers often take too many calories and proteins. No wonder that many ABC shooters are too fat when they come to school. In Rhineland-Palatinate, one in ten first graders is already too fat. This emerges from the response of Minister of Health Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler (SPD) to a small request from the CDU parliamentary group in Mainz. According to this, 5.5 percent of ABC shooters were overweight during the initial examination for the 2014/15 school year. At 4.4 percent even obesity (obesity) was registered.

Children's programs for a better nutrition
According to the data, the schoolchildren's weight data has been recorded electronically nationwide for seven years. The proportion of thick ABC shooters has hardly changed since then. The Minister of Health referred to various children's programs for better nutrition. These included, among others, "Kita eats better", the EU School Fruit and Vegetable Program, the lesson series "ABC der Lebensmittel" as well as the school project "Sustainable Nutrition - What is worth our food?"

More exercise and less sugar
For years, health experts have been trying to counteract the problem of overweight - especially among children and adolescents. In addition to a diet that requires less fat and less sugar, most professionals recommend more exercise for children to prevent obesity. A few months ago, an interesting study was published, which showed that water donors in schools can reduce the overweight in children. The US researchers reported that in schools where water dispensers were present, there was a slight decline in student overweight because, among other things, they consumed fewer dairy products - with sugar.
