Attractiveness through fruits and vegetables? According to a study by the British University of Bristol, vegetables and fruits are supposed to change their appearance to make us look more attractive to other people.
(26.05.2010) According to a study by the British University of Bristol, vegetables and fruits are supposed to change the appearance in a way that makes us look more attractive to other people. Researchers led by study leader Professor Ian Stephan of the University of Bristol and psychologist Professor David Perrett of St. Andrews University, published their findings, which seem to confirm ancient assumptions from natural medicine, in the online edition of the English newspaper "Daily Mail"..
In the study, they administered to the participants over the period of one month every day five different vegetables and fruits. Among others, those containing much of the pigments carotene and melanin, such as apricots, carrots, peaches and tomatoes. After the month, other people who had not taken part in the diet were shown photos of participants in the study who showed them before and after their diet. It turned out that the photos looked much more attractive to the observers after the carotened and melanin-rich diet.
Obviously, people seem to prefer the complexion to the sun through a healthy natural diet, the British researchers conclude. You now want to see if you can incorporate these findings into national health campaigns. Because the realization that the attractiveness of a healthy diet increases could lead more people to eat more fruits and vegetables, they hope. (Thorsten Fischer, Naturopath Osteopathy)
