Dangerous arteriosclerosis: promote vessels through healthy eating
In the carnival season, the good resolutions from the beginning of the year are often left to the left. In the fool's day, the focus is usually on fun - healthy food and regular exercise are not enough for many. However, unhealthy diets increase the risk of diseases such as arteriosclerosis (atherosclerosis).

Diseases of the cardiovascular system
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 17.5 million deaths annually are attributed to diseases of the cardiovascular system. In Germany they are cause of death number one. Arteriosclerosis (arteriosclerosis) has dramatic consequences for the cardiovascular system. The most common are heart attack and stroke. In Germany, one in five suffers from aging of the arteries as they age. The risk can be reduced by suitable measures such as reduction of obesity and appropriate nutrition, reported the Independent Patient Services Germany (UPD) in a recent release.

Atherosclerosis often goes unnoticed for years
As the experts explain, arteriosclerosis develops as a result of the pathological change in the arteries, which can lead to vasoconstriction. Among the risk factors include high blood pressure, smoking and obesity.

"It often develops slowly and unnoticed for years," said Nadezda Pampalova, medical consultant at UPD. "At the beginning of the disease, there are hardly any complaints until the vascular disease has progressed so far that a heart attack can occur."

Cardiac arrhythmia, chest tightness (angina pectoris), dizziness, fainting, and pain in legs and arms can be the first warning signs of arteriosclerosis.

Prevent by healthy lifestyle
A healthy lifestyle can often prevent arteriosclerosis and thus heart attack.

"A balanced healthy diet as well as regular exercise and the reduction of obesity play an important role. However, before the first training sick people should necessarily be examined by a doctor, "said the expert.

It is also useful to give up smoking. Who leaves the fingers of cigarettes, "which can significantly reduce the risk of arteriosclerosis and thus the risk of heart attack," explained Pampalova.

Relaxation exercises for stress management
Less stress in everyday life can also contribute to the prevention and to the maintenance of good intentions.

Relaxation techniques for stress relief such as autogenic training and progressive muscle relaxation can help.
