AOK and IKK Southwest cancel merger

Well, the merger between the AOK Rheinland-Pfalz and the AOK Saarland with the IKK Südwest has been canceled. Actually, the three health insurance wanted to „Health fund southwest“ join together. IKK Südwest has dropped out of the merger talks after confirmed reports.

Already in advance, information from internal circles leaked to the public. The IKK Südwest from Saarbrücken does not want to participate in the planned merger. According to the general local health insurance funds, the Innungskasse found in the future „external image“ not in an appropriate form again. The two board members of the AOK´In a letter in July this year, they had insisted that the new appearance of the „Health fund southwest“ not significantly different from the brand appearance of the AOK community. After all, the merged fund was to remain a member of the federal association of the AOK member. IKK Südwest would have left the association of guild health insurances. Instead, the board of directors of IKK Südwest had decided in a meeting that the new logo should not bear any indication of membership in the AOK network. Accordingly, the merger was not canceled because of financial and organizational differences, but only due to the planned public presentation. The new health insurance fund should have its headquarters in Eisenberg. There was last the seat of the AOK Rhineland-Palatinate.

The merger should take place in October of this year. After the discrepancies became known to the Ministry of Health Rhineland-Palatinate, the merger was postponed to the beginning of 2012. The Ministry acts as the supervisory authority. (Sb)
