The newly created AOK Nordost starts without an additional contribution

01/05/2011

Just in time for the beginning of the year, the newly merged health insurance company AOK Nordost starts. The fund forms a merger with the former AOK Berlin-Brandenburg and with the AOK Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The common name is now „AOK Northeast“. The AOK CEO Frank Michalak announced on Tuesday that the insured can expect that the newly created health insurance will raise in 2011 no additional contribution. This decision was made by the Board of Directors at a meeting.

The AOK Northeast emphasized that despite the merger, it is relying on a regional anchorage. "The local service center network with 112 locations remains fully intact," said Head of Cash Office Michalak. In the three new federal states, the AOK is the member-biggest health insurance fund. Nationwide, the merged fund with a total of 1.8 million health insurance is one of the ten largest public health insurance. As a result of the merger, the fund will achieve economic stability, so that an additional contribution is currently excluded. A total of 12 health insurance companies currently levy a flat-rate additional contribution which, in addition to the regular contributions, has to be paid by the insured persons. (Sb)
