The association NHV Theophrastus has named the anise (Pimpinella anisum) the medicinal plant of the year 2014. The decisive factor for the choice is the broad spectrum of healing effects of the anise. The cleansing tendencies of the aniseed fruits could positively influence many chronic diseases, so the responsible persons of the association.

The jury of the association decided with the choice of anise for a plant with a wide range of healing effects. „The purifying tendencies of anise fruits - bloating, digestive and expectorant - can positively affect many chronic diseases“, a jury member justifies his decision. For nursing mothers, anise milk flow is stimulating. The anise has been known since antiquity as a distinctive spice, especially in baked goods. In alcoholic specialties such as the Greek ouzo or the Turkish raki, he is now also familiar to the traveling Germans.

The medicinal herb symposium in St. Marienstern Monastery in Panschwitz-Kuckau has been organized by the Saxon State Curatorium Rural Area e.V. for the past eleven years with the support of the Saxon State Foundation for Nature and the Environment and is enjoying increasing popularity.
The presentation took place within the framework of the medicinal herb symposium in the Lausitzer Kloster St. Marienstern. The anise has been known since antiquity as a distinctive spice, especially in baked goods.
