The furniture retailer Ikea has launched a recall campaign for dark chocolate. It is said that the milk and hazelnut content on the packages was not sufficiently stated. The recall refers to the 100-gram tablets of CHOKLAD MÖRK 60 percent and CHOKLAD MÖRK 70 percent. According to the information, persons who are allergic to milk or hazelnuts may experience an allergic reaction after consuming the product.

Allergic reactions possible
According to health experts, milk allergy is one of the most common allergic reactions to food. It is to be distinguished from lactose intolerance (lactose intolerance). The symptoms are similar, however. After eating dairy products, symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, as well as skin reactions with itching may occur. The situation is similar with a hazelnut allergy. Patients may also experience a burning or tingling sensation on the lips, in the mouth and on the mucous membranes after eating a hazelnut-containing food. According to the German Allergy and Asthma Association (DAAB) "the hazelnuts are in second place as the cause of anaphylactic reactions after legume production".

Affected products can be returned without a receipt
According to Ikea, people who are not allergic to milk and hazelnuts can safely consume products affected by the recall. Customers can return the recalled goods for a full refund of the purchase price to the nearest Ikea store. A proof of purchase in the form of a receipt is not required for the refund.
