Recent figures More people due to mental illness in rehab
Stress and performance expectations are increasing
Stress and high performance expectations are increasing more and more today. This has an impact on us all: About one in four people suffers from a mental disorder at some point in their lives, scientists recently reported. This also means that there are now significantly more absences due to mental illness. In addition, sufferers get more and more rehab benefits from the pension fund. For example, the German Pension Fund (DRV) approved 155,000 hospital stays for rehabilitation last year for mental illness. Congress in Aachen
According to the information, ten years earlier, there were only 89,350 corresponding permits. In the outpatient area, 9,150 benefits were granted, compared to 1,890 in 2005. Rehabilitation services are the subject of the congress "Health System in Transition - Perspectives of Rehabilitation", which is expected to be attended by over 1,500 scientists, doctors, psychologists and therapists from Monday to Wednesday in Aachen. It is said that the statutory pension insurance under this name carries out treatments with the aim of significantly improving or restoring the ability of patients to work.
Mental disorders are better recognized today
The increase is attributed by the pension insurance mainly to the fact that mental disorders are better recognized today. "For a real increase in the incidence of mental illness, however, there is no indication, even according to recent studies," according to their experts. However, not all experts see this as follows: When a new record was set a few years ago and around 11 million workers had to be rehabed, experts warned that mental illness could become the number one "common disease" in the future.
Depression and anxiety disorders in women main cause
According to the dpa-Medlung, insureds with rehab for mental illness were the last to have 54 percent women and 46 percent men. In 2014 men were the most frequently rehabilitated due to an addiction disorder. It is said that the proportion of addiction rehab in all medical clinic rehab services was 7.2 percent. For women, however, it was only 2.1 percent - for them, depression and anxiety were the main cause. According to the responsible director of the German Pension Insurance Association, Gundula Roßbach, according to the most recent data, about 84 percent of those affected were able to work again within two years after rehab.
