€ 68 reduction for disabled people from 2011

€ 68 reduction for disabled people from 2011 / Health News

The black and yellow federal government wants to cut salaries for the disabled massively

Starting next year, the need for people with disabilities will be reduced by a whopping 68 euros. Accordingly, disabled people should receive only 80 percent of the Hartz IV control benefits. The cut is expected to come into force at the beginning of 2011 and will affect mainly people who live in shared flats or live with their parents.

Some time ago, CDU Federal Labor Minister Ursula von Leyen said that „Pensioners and the disabled“ under a „special protection“ because they are not to blame for the cause of financial need. This statement is likely to feel like a mockery for many affected people. From 2011, the standard benefits for the disabled will be reduced by 68 euros a month. Accordingly, the victims are only 291 euros per month available. According to the Federal Ministry of Labor, disabled people are affected by the rule requirement level III, who do not have their own household and still live with their parents. Here, the ministry assumes that those affected „usually“ do not participate in the financial management. Social experts assume that people with disabilities who live in shared flats, for example, are also affected. In the Federal Ministry of Labor one tries to appease. Excluded are persons who are married or in a civil partnership. Here is the pro rata set of rules of 90 percent, ie 328 euros (standard requirement level II). This corresponds to a 90 percent standard benefit, including the five Euro Hartz IV rule rate increase.

Heavy criticism of the cuts
The opposition is showing such a high reduction „too deeply affected“. The social policy spokesman for the Greens, Markus Kurth, told the Frankfurter Rundschau: „Here, of all things, the group is the one that can least change its own income situation and, moreover, because of its disability, usually has higher expenditures.“ The cuts contradict all efforts to provide people with disabilities with a dignified life outside of institutions. The politician called on the black-yellow federal government to correct this plan immediately. (07.11.2010, sb)
