One child was treated in the hospital
A total of 19 children and three caregivers have contracted vomiting diarrhea on a holiday farm in the Swabian town of Mödingen. According to a report by the news agency dpa, the district office in Dillingen on the Danube announced on Tuesday that a child was being treated as a precaution in a hospital. In the other patients, the disease symptoms were resolved within a few hours. The cause of the wave of illness, which began on the weekend, is still unclear. Now it should be investigated whether it was possibly triggered by noroviruses.

Result is expected for next week
The patients were part of a 60-strong private group from the Friedrichshafen area in Baden-Württemberg. According to the information they had eaten on the farm itself. The district administration expects only in the coming week with a result of the investigations. On the holiday farm in Moedingen last year, 40 children and adults who belonged to a group from the Sindelfingen area were diagnosed with vomiting diarrhea. According to the district administration, noroviruses were the cause of the illness at that time.
Suspected dangerous viruses
Also in Saxony a few days ago, several children had to be treated in a summer camp for vomiting diarrhea. There, too, it had been suspected that noroviruses could have been the trigger for it. The suspicion of such pathogens is usually expressed quickly when several people at the same time suffer from complaints such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Noroviruses are highly contagious and therefore responsible for much of the non-bacterial gastrointestinal infections in children and adults. (Ad)
