Is eating meat healthy?

Hardly any food is as controversial as the meat. Although the facts from health, environmental and moral aspects speak for a significant reduction in meat consumption, many people do not take their daily meat. In fact, meat effectively supplies the body with iron, high-quality protein and precious Vitamin B12. In addition, it saturates well and the meat taste is extremely popular with many people. But most meat eaters eat too much of it. The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) advises not to consume more than 300 to 600 grams per week.

Too much meat makes you sick

Excessive meat consumption can make you sick. Meat contains many saturated fats as well as cholesterol. This can damage the blood vessels, increase the risk of arteriosclerosis and, in the worst case, lead to a heart attack. The purines contained in the meat lead to breakdown products in the body, which can increase the uric acid levels and lead to gout and rheumatism.

Frequent consumption of meat also exposes you to the risk of fatty liver formation. In addition, grilled and highly heated meat can increase the risk of high blood pressure, and last but not least, processed red meat is carcinogenic according to the World Health Organization. (Vb)
