Bisphenol A
Bisphenol A (BPA) is the best known compound from the group of bisphenols. Above all, BPA is used in the production of plastics and is contained in plastic bottles, foil packaging and other everyday objects. From these materials, BPA can be released and subsequently ingested by humans. In the human body, the substance has various negative effects, which also discusses possible impairments of early childhood development and fertility disorders. Since 2011, the use of BPA in the manufacture of baby bottles has been banned in Germany. However, other countries (see France) are much wider and have in principle banned BPA in food packaging.
